The forever project is here. I broke my scaphoid a month after the last record and that set me back a while. I recorded the first songs in January while still wearing a splint since I could play at almost full capacity by then... Since then I've just been either busy or unmotivated for large episodes at a time but at least it gave me time to learn singing a LITTLE bit better and record much better tracks over that time. So I barely don't have to be ashamed of my vocal work on the record, which there is a lot of. I recorded the last song (the opener) in April if I recall. Did the vocals all in one day once I lived up to it.

I stripped away a handful of songs, because I just felt they didn't live up to the standards of the album after being made so long ago. Also, that's less music I have to write lyrics for. I'm just out of those... So they'll be released ASAP on a redux record I'm working on. It was supposed to be about just the first year but it only turned out to be like 10 songs so I'll just put those in there as well. They deserve the light of day as well. And that project deserves more merit than it has... More on that soon. It should come out before this record though.

I felt so disappointed in this track and like nothing was making it work until I just slept on it for a while. So it's actually the last one I recorded. Wrote some lyrics for it and it turned out to get this catchy pop hook. It's a song about a sort of tragedy though. Good opener for the record.

I guess the name is in reference to the nylon strings on the classical guitar.

Singing on this one is kind of just because of the pressures of the expectations of western music culture of songs having vocals. It's a bit corny but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Forever single but I love music. The orchestral section is the last music I recorded for this album, since "All Alone" like 2 months ago. Just figured that part needed something, and the keyboard was what I could record dead in the middle of that sleepless night. Just sat down and figured it out. The ascending motive it starts with is kind of copied from something very niche and close to me though. I think it's even in the same key.

8-string bass btw!

I guess inspired but not strictly about by my time in a cast, as this album is... This is the first thing I wrote for the record. While still wearing a cast. Just sat down with an acoustic at a friend's house. The words just kinda came out later when I sat down to write. The last section of the lyrics I jotted down for use with some later song but I liked the bittersweet sound or something, so it stayed in. The double guitar solo is such a chef's kiss.

Kind of Soundgarden-esque... 100% inspired by the rotary speaker sound I discovered while trying to get a sound for a different song (the first one I recorded I think, scrapped off this record) out of my amp, so I had to write something for it on the spot. Just recorded a little jingle. Also just some testing ground for the 8-string bass I got like a day before I broke my scaphoid. That kinda hurt me mentally.

The lyrics were initially written for Pop Up but they were too hard to sing so I repurposed and shortened them for this song. Still, I think the vocals are kind of an afterthought imposed by the pressures of western music culture again. It's also mainly inspired by my time in a cast but much more self-aware and tongue-in-cheek. Definitely catchy though. The insane instrumental work, I mean.

No denying it was kind of hard to sing and these lyrics were milked out for a different song that was supposed to have this name but I kind of had a hard time writing so I just put them into this song since they were slightly easier to sing for this song even though anything is hard for this song. But I like how the vocals sound so off-kilter. The protagonist is a crazy alcoholic (not looking at anybody) so it makes sense for the vocals to be fucked up like his head. This was supposed to be a whole storyline for the album tying it together but this is all I could chalk it up to and I got rid of the songs I was gonna write it for. It's good though. It works on its own.
