Based in Christchurch, MAXI BOOST is a veteran of New Zealand’s underground techno scene, known for pushing BPM boundaries and curating sonic chaos with precision. Originally rooted in Wellington, MAXI BOOST built a reputation through the legendary Keep Weird parties and a long-standing residency at the infamous Electroluxxe nights at Sandwiches—spaces that became synonymous with raw energy and uncompromising sound.
Specializing in techno across the 130–150 BPM spectrum, MAXI BOOST’s sets are a journey through hard, hypnotic, and experimental terrain. While once known for relentless hard techno, his current style embraces a broader palette—still intense, but with a matured sense of flow and texture.
Under the alias DUO ALIAS, he’s spent the last eight years crafting live hardware-driven techno performances, bringing modular grit and analog warmth to dancefloors across Aotearoa. Festival appearances include Discombobulation, Twisted Frequency, and club sets at Hide Bar, plus gigs in Auckland and beyond.
MAXI BOOST is also a label head, running Keep Weird, a platform for off-kilter, boundary-pushing electronic music, and his own solo imprint ERROR OF MASS, dedicated to high-impact techno with a DIY ethos.
