About The Song
Acclaimed producer and musician Anthony Casuccio has released his first official cover song, a reimagined version of “Am I Wrong,” originally written by Richard and Tim Butler of Psychedelic Furs fame and released by Richard’s side project, Love Spit Love.
“When I first heard this song, it moved me,” says Casuccio. “I had to listen a few times to absorb the lyrics and Richard Butler’s one-of-a-kind vocal essence. I knew right then I needed to do my own version.”
Known for his hands-on production style, Casuccio took a collaborative approach for this release. His 16-year-old son Tyler programmed the drums, adding a fresh rhythmic layer. Longtime collaborator and bandmate Mike Rieman contributed lush string arrangements, while award-winning bassist Kent Weber, whom Casuccio had long hoped to work with, brought depth and groove to the track.
“The timing worked out perfectly,” Casuccio shares. “We got in the studio, had fun, and experimented with synth bass that really filled out the song.”
In pursuit of Richard Butler’s signature vocal tone, Casuccio even tracked vocals while under the weather, a creative risk that adds character to the final mix.
